At MPEG, I proposed a systems layer that would include executable script in a stream header, which would have allowed novel classes of video (such as synthetic graphics) or even typical video to be decoded with algorithms updatable in the script [1-4,7], and which would have partially obviated the need for new compression standards. (This proved not too popular among the lifelong MPEG delegates!)  I  proposed having an MPEG-4 file format, now known as .mp4 [5].  I proposed a file format [6], but lost to a derivative of QuickTime, as the basis for the MPEG-4 file format, after a political power play by Apple, Sun Microsystems, IBM, and Oracle against Microsoft.  I designed the hypothetical reference decoder for H.264 [8], which is used to guarantee conformance.  I helped to initiate the point cloud compression (PCC) standard by donating key datasets [9,12,39].  I contributed two point cloud codecs — one based on a hierarchical transform build on octrees (RAHT) [15] and one based on video codecs [16], for coding the point cloud attributes.  The first of these was accepted as the basis for the static point cloud codec now in the geometry-based version (G-PCC).
